It is never easy to define the essential
ethos of a
home for the retired, that quality which makes it different from other
homes.
Yet if there is one feature of life at The Chestnuts which has most of
all
impressed newcomers over our 25
years in business, it is the warm and friendly family atmosphere. This
is
partly due to our comparatively small size, but above all it is due to
the
sensitive and concerned attitude of our staff.
Thus there is at The Chestnuts
a real sense of our being a
home in which everybody can feel they belong and have a part to play.
Residents
are invited to share in the running of the home and to contribute at
any level
to the best of their ability. Our constant aim is to foster an
atmosphere in
which each individual can enjoy their retirement and take pride in
their home.
This, together with the devotion and quality of care facilitate lively
communication, positive relationships and an atmosphere of mutual
respect and
confidence between staff and residents.
The Chestnuts is a spacious, family run home of character with full
central
heating and a pleasant private garden, registered with the Commission
for
Social Care Inspection and fitted with the 'Nurse Call' system in every
room.
Ministers from the local churches visit us socially and to hold
communion for
those who wish to attend. Our rooms are furnished to a high standard,
however
you are encouraged to personalise your room by bringing as many of your
own
belongings as you wish. There is no restriction on visiting and
relatives and
friends may come to see you at any time and we always make newcomers
welcome.
Please feel free to call and ask for either Karen, Bethany or Tracey
for an
informal visit and we will do our best to help with any questions or
problems
you may have.
